Lepidoziaceae
This family contains a group of plants which may appear diverse, but they have similarities in the basic shape of the leaves and underleaves, which are divided into 3 or 4 lobes. The underleaves are smaller than the lateral leaves.
Lepidozia microphylla
This one has very fine leaves, giving it a delicate lacey appearance.
It is often found on banks in wet areas of the bush, covered with droplets of water .
This image shows some sporophytes - which I didn't notice at the time I took the shot! The longest one would be about 15-20 mm long.
Lepidozia glaucophylla
Found growing on a rotting log.
The colour makes this quite a distinctive species.
A close-up showing the underleaves.
Lepidozia pendulina
Lepidozia ulothrix
Found on old logs and tree trunks in areas of moderate rainfall.
The margins of the leaves are toothed.
These photos were taken in the Taupo area.

The margins of the leaves are dentate.
An underleaf. The underleaves of this species are quite wide.
