Winika cunninghamii - an epiphytic orchid.

This orchid used to be known as Dendrobium cunninghamii, but in recent times was given a new genus name, Winika, which is an old Maori name for this orchid. This orchid grew on a totara which was used to make the hull of a sacred war canoe belonging to the Tainui people, and they named the canoe Te Winika after the orchid.

The flowers I have seen are about 1.5cm wide, and quite sparse on the plants in this area.
