| Hydnum repandum
This species looked like a plain light creamy-coloured mushroom, until I picked one and checked the underneath the under side of the cap - it has spines rather than gills. The cap size in these specimens is 20-45 mm. These were growing amongst mosses underneath regenerating kauri/tawa/kamahi, on an exposed ridge. |
