A very attractive bolete, the colour of which can vary from white to a dark cream.

The pores underneath are also white (see the third image).

Note the raised pattern on the stem - a feature of the Austroboletes.

Found under Nothofagus in many parts of NZ.

Note the patterned stem. The pores of this species are a very pale mauve colour.
