Bartramiaceae Family
Genus: Breutalia

I usually find these alongside tracks, growing in damp clay soils and in fairly sunny conditions.

Breutalia elongata

This one was quite conspicuous with its gold colouring and orange-red discs on the ends of the shoots. These discs are the male reproductive organs.

Breutalia pendula

This one was also easily recogniseable as a Breutalia with the conspicuous tips of its branches.

Genus Philonotis

Philonotis tenuis

This species is quite easily recognised when bearing capsules. It is also found growing on exposed sunny banks.
